At the 1995 Detroit Auto Show, Ford unveiled the GT90 concept. In 2002, the updated GT40 debuted, again as a concept. A year later, three Ford GT prototypes were produced in honor of Ford's centenary.

The production of the model started in autumn 2004 and lasted until 2006, with a total circulation of 4,038 cars.

The Ford GT is a mid-engined two-seater supercar from America that closely resembles the original GT40 in terms of appearance. The length of the car is 4646 mm, height - 1125 mm, width - 1953 mm, wheelbase - 2710 mm. In running order, the Ford GT weighs about 1,500 kg.

The supercar's two-seater body is made of technologically advanced composite materials, and the space frame with a large central tunnel is made of aluminum. The Ford GT model is equipped with a racing independent suspension, which has special push rods, horizontal springs and shock absorbers. At the same time, the steering column for the supercar is borrowed from the Ford Focus, and the airbags are from the Ford Mondeo.

For the new sports car Ford GT, a powerful and high-torque engine was offered. It is a 5.4-liter supercharged petrol V8 with 550 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque.

The engine worked in conjunction with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear axle drive. The American supercar takes 3.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h, and the maximum speed is 346 km / h (it should be noted that commercial vehicles had a limiter at around 330 km / h).

Ford GT1 and GT3 are racing versions of the car developed by Matech Concepts. The GT1 version was intended for the FIA GT1 World Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and it was equipped with a 600-horsepower engine. The GT1 version produced about 500 horsepower, and it was created for the FIA GT3 European Championship and the FIA GT1 World Championship.

The supercar Ford GT has a great exterior design, modern interior, good equipment and solid technical "stuffing". But all this is backed up by a high price - in the United States it was necessary to pay for cars from $ 150,000, and the cost of some copies even reached half a million dollars. There are a few Ford GTs in Russia as well.
