If you do not find yourself a “used D-class” or the golf class has become a bit cramped for you, you should definitely pay attention to Geely Vision (at least, the Chinese manufacturer himself thinks so). And what is Geely - probably no need to explain ... The very same company Geely proudly calls itself “the mirror of Toyota”.
The reason for such a high self-esteem of Geely is that the company, in creating its cars, is guided by the same principles as Toyota: reliability, economy and safety. Of course, “being guided” and “realizing” are different things and we would rather call Geely not a “mirror”, but a “replica” of Toyota. And Toyota, by the way, is not happy with such "fans" - they even tried to sue Geely for a "similar logo". The trial was won by Geely (well, the logo really does not look like - a strange excuse). But it would be worth Toyota to sue Geely for the new Vision sedan, which is very similar to the Toyota Corolla.
In profile, the Geely Vision is very reminiscent of a stretched Toyota Corolla thanks to the same body lines, window and door lines. Although these elements were not left without modifications: a noticeable stamping appeared on the side, the moldings were removed from the doors and the handles were changed. Everything else is quite comparable to the Corolla. The Geely Vision car confidently looks forward with wide-open “eyes” of headlights, the sun plays with the chrome of the radiator grille, and the air is cut by an impressive bumper with “fangs” of foglights. The rear part does not look as "positive and optimistic" as the "front end" - it turned out to be too high, "heavy" and "empty". It is not clear why it was so to spread the lanterns, exposing so much metal ... a small shade of elegance to the stern is given only by a successful chrome strip on the trunk lid.
But inside Geely Vision there are no hints of luridness or imbalance: the interior of the sedan is designed in a strict business style (taken from the same Toyota). Finishing materials, of course, are not luxurious, but everything is neatly done and very ergonomic.
But the Vision car cannot be called spacious (despite the “class-D”), even despite the fact that in comparison with the Corolla, the Geely Vision is 217 mm longer (and, at the same time, has a wheelbase identical to the Corolla - 2602 mm). In Geely Vision, it turned out that there is enough room in front, and in the back seat it is very far from that.
The dynamics of Geely Vision does not shine - the sedan is experiencing a tangible "lack of horses." This is especially noticeable at low revs - to accelerate this car has to strain noticeably. And only “at the top” the 1.8-liter engine (133 hp), coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox, becomes more cheerful.
The Geely Vision also has positive traits. For example, its stability and controllability leaves a good impression. The test trip showed that the Chinese sedan Geely Vision can keep the trajectory well and respond adequately to the actions of the steering wheel (strange - I caught myself thinking that I am writing about this as something outstanding, and not about “it goes without saying” :-)) ... It is also difficult to find fault with the Geely Vision brakes: the sedan slows down according to the applied forces (without yawing and pulling to the sides).
The rolls of Geely Vision are a weak point: in sharp turns, the car literally falls to one side.
But as usual when talking about Chinese products (including cars), he can be forgiven a lot just for his price.
And the price of Geely Vision beckons - it is assumed that the cost of the new Geely Vision in Russia will be about 380 thousand rubles - it is tempting. Moreover, at such a modest price, Geely Vision's car has in the basic equipment: ABS with EBD, two airbags, air conditioning, plus good build quality. Cons - the only "basic" configuration, weak engine and still living "chronic distrust of the Chinese product as a whole."
