In November 2013, in Brazil, the official presentation of the pre-production prototype of the new budget model Ford Ka of the third generation took place, and a year later a commercial copy was released, which entered the conveyor of the Brazilian plant of the brand in Sao Paulo. As a result of reincarnation, the car not only tried on a completely new "outfit", but also changed its original philosophy, turning into a B-class hatchback with a five-door body and acquiring new technology. In the second half of 2016, the American state employee should get to the countries of the Old World, and whether he will appear in Russia - nothing is reported.
The exterior of the "third" Ford Ka is subordinated to the current design policy of the brand - the "face" of the five-door is decorated with a polygonal radiator grille in the style of Aston Martin and large headlights crawling onto the front fenders. In profile, the car flaunts a neat outline with pronounced ribs and a sloping roof, and its stern contains teardrop-shaped lanterns and a neat tailgate.
The third incarnation of the Ford Ka belongs to the "B" class according to European standards: its length is 3886 mm, width and height do not exceed 1911 mm and 1525 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2491 mm. The curb weight of the five-door varies from 1007 to 1034 kg, depending on the modification.
The interior of the city car is drawn in a recognizable style, which makes it look modern and elegant and does not advertise its budget essence. A three-spoke steering wheel, an analog instrument panel and a nice center console with an on-board computer display (in expensive versions - with a 4.2-inch color screen), an audio system “remote” and three air conditioning “twists” - inside the hatch is attractive and expressive ... The decoration of the car is finished with budget but pleasant materials, and the build quality is at a decent level.
The third-generation Ford Ka salon is organized according to a five-seater scheme, but in fact it will be comfortable only for four riders, the space for which will be sufficient both in the front and in the rear seats.
In the "stowed" state, the hatchback luggage compartment is designed to accommodate 257 liters of luggage. The back of the rear sofa folds in two parts in order to increase the free volume for luggage, but does not allow creating a flat area.
Specifications. In the European market, the third "release" of the Ford Ka will most likely be offered with three gasoline engines, in partnership with which the uncontested "mechanics" will be separated into five gears and a front-wheel drive transmission.
- Base hatchbacks will be powered by a 1.0-liter EcoBoost triple turbocharged direct injection that generates 80 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque.
- Intermediate solutions will be allocated a four-cylinder 1.2-liter engine producing 88 "mares".
- Well, the "top" cars will be equipped with a 1.5-liter "four", the return of which is 105 forces and 143 Nm of torque.
How much the small car will be nimble and economical - the company has not yet disclosed.
The third-generation Ka is based on the fifth-generation Ford Fiesta front-wheel drive platform with a transversely mounted engine and a monocoque body made of steel. The hatchback's suspension design is typical of the budget class: MacPherson struts and a stabilizer are located on the front axle, and a semi-independent architecture with a torsion bar and stabilizer is located on the rear.
The front of the car is equipped with ventilated 240-mm discs of the brake system, and the rear - drum devices (plus there is ABS).
The steering system is represented by a rack and pinion mechanism with an electric control amplifier.
Options and prices. In the European market, sales of the Ford Ka should start in the second half of 2016 at a price of 10,370 euros.
For this money, a five-door hatchback with: two airbags, central locking, a pair of power windows, ABS, air conditioning, 14-inch wheel disks, a standard audio system and other "chips" will be offered.
The most "stuffed" equipment will "flaunt": a multimedia complex with a color screen, alloy wheels, "climate" trimmed with leather multi-steering wheel and others.
