Honda CR-V is a front- or all-wheel drive SUV of the compact segment, which combines an attractive design, high-quality and roomy interior decoration, a decent technical component and good "driving" characteristics ... The target audience of this car is, first of all, city dwellers (outside depending on gender and age), leading an active lifestyle and wishing to get a "multifunctional vehicle", on which you can go to work, and go to nature, and go on a trip ...

At a private event in Detroit, held on October 13, 2016, the company "Honda" has declassified the next, fifth in a row, the embodiment of the crossover "CR-V", the full premiere of which took place a month later - at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The car has become better than its predecessor in all respects: it has grown in size, has noticeably changed outwardly (although it has remained "certainly recognizable"), acquired a more solid interior and received modernized equipment. So, if in the States this off-road vehicle appeared already in December 2016, then in its "European guise" it celebrated its debut only in March 2017 - at the bridegroom in Geneva, and after a couple of months it reached Russia.

In the second half of September 2019, a restyled SUV made its debut at a special event in the United States, which, as a result of modernization, slightly "refreshed" externally (due to different bumpers, rims and exhaust pipes) and practically did not change in the cabin (from the new here - only the redrawn casing central tunnel), but at the same time received many new options. Not without technical metamorphoses - the five-door was separated by a petrol 1.5-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 193 hp, which replaced the 2.4-liter "aspirated" (although this innovation bypassed Russia).

The exterior of the fifth generation Honda CR-V is designed in the current style of the Japanese brand, which many models have already tried on - the car looks beautiful, fresh and energetic.

The front of the crossover attracts attention with frowning headlights (optionally fully LED), a “hexagon” of the radiator grille and a faceted bumper, and its stern is decorated with complex lanterns “crawling” onto the tailgate and trapezoidal exhaust pipes spaced around the edges of the bumper.

And when looking at the assembly there is something to catch your eye - a developed relief of the sidewalls, a sill line soaring to the rear and impressive wheel arches that accommodate "rollers" with a diameter of 17-19 inches.

Dimensions and weight

The "fifth" Honda CR-V stretches 4586 mm in length, the gap between the axles is 2660 mm, and the ground clearance is 208 mm. The width and height of the "Japanese" are 1855 mm and 1689 mm, respectively. The turning radius is 5.5 meters.

The curb weight of the car ranges from 1557 to 1617 kg (depending on the version), and the maximum permissible weight is 2130 kg.

Interior

When developing the interior of this five-door, the Japanese, as a reference model, seem to have been looking at the BMW X3 and I must say that they managed to create beautiful and premium-looking “apartments” with carefully thought-out ergonomics and expensive finishing materials.

In the center of the front panel there is a 7-inch touchscreen of a multimedia system with a physical volume control, and just below there is a stylish "climate" unit. A catchy multifunctional "steering wheel" and a completely "drawn" instrument cluster add weight to the decoration of the crossover.

The salon of the fifth generation Honda CR-V is able to accommodate five adult riders - they are provided with ample space in both rows of seats. Competently arranged front seats have pronounced lateral support bolsters and large ranges of settings, and the rear sofa "flaunts" a hospitable profile, but does not differ in additional conveniences.

With a five-seater layout, the trunk of an SUV holds 522 liters of luggage (in addition to this, it pleases with successful shapes), and with folded passenger seats it reaches 1084 liters.

Regardless of the equipment option, it is equipped with a small-sized spare wheel, and as an option it can be equipped with an electric drive of the fifth door, including with activation by a "kick" under the bumper.

Specifications

In the Russian market for the Honda CR-V of the fifth incarnation, two atmospheric gasoline "fours" of the i-VTEC series are announced:

  • The initial versions are equipped with a 2.0-liter unit with multipoint injection, 16-valve SOHC timing belt and a valve control system, which generates 150 "horses" at 6500 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 4300 rpm.
  • More "capable" modifications are "armed" with a 2.4-liter engine with a light alloy cylinder block, direct injection, 16 valves, a timing belt in DOHC format and variable valve timing technology, producing 186 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 244 N · m of torque at 3900 rpm.

Both engines are paired with a continuously variable variator and an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch, responsible for transferring up to 50% of power to the rear axle.

Such a crossover breaks down from a standstill to 100 km / h after 10.2 ~ 11.9 seconds, maximally accelerates to 188 ~ 190 km / h and “destroys” 7.5 ~ 7.8 liters of fuel in a combined travel cycle.

Design features

The "fifth" Honda CR-V rests on a new modular "bogie", which has already been tried on by the "Civic" of the tenth generation, with a transversely based power plant, abundant use of high-strength steels in the body structure and a completely independent chassis.

At the front, the car is equipped with McPherson struts, and at the rear - with a multi-link configuration (“in a circle” there are shock absorbers with reduced friction and lateral stabilizers).

The SUV uses rack and pinion steering, complemented by an electric booster with a variable gear ratio. All wheels of the five-door are equipped with disc brakes (with ventilation in the front), which work together with ABS, EBS, Brake Assist and other electronics.

Options and prices

Sales of the fifth-generation restyled Honda CR-V should begin in the Russian market in the second half of 2020, but the "pre-reform" crossover is offered in our country in four trim levels - Elegance, Lifestyle, Executive and Prestige.

  • The initial configuration "Elegance" with a 2.0-liter engine is offered at a price of 2,134,900 rubles, and in the "base" this SUV has: eight airbags, one-zone "climate", halogen headlights, an audio system with four speakers, ABS, EBD, VSA , ESP, heated front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable mirrors, heated and electrically folding, heated front seats, electronic "handbrake", rear parking sensors, cruise control, an audio system with four speakers and some other equipment.

A more powerful 2.4-liter engine is available from the "Lifestyle" version (and higher) - for such a car you will have to pay at least 2,409,900 rubles, while the "top" modification (only with the 186-strong "four") will cost the amount of 2 689 900 rubles.

  • The most "sophisticated" crossover boasts: a two-zone "climate", leather trim, an electric sunroof, heated rear seats, electric adjustment of the front seats and trunk, front parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a projection display, a media center, an audio system with eight speakers and completely LED optics.
