The almost full-size first-generation Citroen C6 sedan celebrated its world premiere in March 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show, but its conceptual version, called the C6 Lignage, was first shown to the general public in the spring of 1999. The car, which led the model range of the French brand, did not live up to expectations - for eight years of production, the three-box sold a little more than 23 thousand copies across the world arena, which is why its release in 2012 was finally completed (probably it was slightly "ahead of its time" - t .k. literally a couple of years after it left the market, sedans of the "four-door coupe" type gained popularity).

Externally, the Citroen C6 is distinguished by its extravagant, refined and very solid appearance, but it is definitely not a "written" handsome man. The monumental three-volume body is overflowing with original design solutions - which are only fancy headlights, arched lights, an inward curved rear window, frameless doors and a rounded silhouette that looks more like a hatchback than a classic sedan. Of course, against the background of prim "classmates" the car stands out favorably for its originality.

Citroen C6 is a business class model (E-segment), which is 4908 mm long, 1464 mm high and 1860 mm wide. The gap between the wheelsets of the "Frenchman" is 2900 mm, and its standard ground clearance does not exceed 150 mm (thanks to the air suspension, it changes from 110 to 210 mm). In the "combat" state, the four-door weighs from 1820 to 1873 kg, depending on the version.

The interior of the Citroen C6 is dominated by austere design and symmetrical shapes, but in almost all respects it falls short of German competitors. A multifunctional steering wheel with a "flat" rim hides a digital "instrument panel" behind it, and on the impressive center console there is a 7-inch monitor of the entertainment and information complex and a scattering of buttons that control "music" and "climate". The interior trim of the car corresponds to its flagship status - tactilely pleasant plastics, genuine leather and wooden "decor".

The amorphous-looking front seats of the French sedan have decent side support, wide range of electrical adjustments, heating and memory. A comfortable sofa is located at the back, the relief of which assumes the placement of no more than two adults (in the "top" modification, the "gallery" is supplemented with an electric drive and heating).

The luggage compartment of the Citroen C6 of the original generation is small by the standards of the class - 421 liters in the "stowed" form. But in the niche under the raised floor there is a place for a full-size spare wheel and the necessary set of tools.

Specifications. This extraordinary sedan was supplied to the Russian market with a non-alternative engine - a 3.0-liter V-six diesel with a Common Rail fuel supply system, two turbochargers, a 16-valve timing belt and an exhaust gas recirculation system. Its peak output is 240 stallions at 3800 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 1600 rpm.
In a storage compartment with a 6-speed "automatic" and a front-wheel drive transmission, the engine allows the car to accelerate to 240 km / h, leaving behind the first "hundred" after 8.5 seconds, and "eat" no more than 7.4 liters of fuel in the "highway / city" mode.

In other markets, the Citroen C6 was also offered with four- and six-cylinder turbocharged diesels with a volume of 2.2-2.7 liters, generating 170-204 "mares" and 370-440 Nm of peak thrust, and a 2.9-liter gasoline V6, the output of which has 211 horsepower and 290 Nm available moment.
All of them were combined with an automatic transmission for six gears, and the "junior" version - with a 6-speed "mechanics".

At the heart of the Citroen C6 is an extended version of the front-wheel drive platform "PSA PF3" with an independent chassis "in a circle": the front is equipped with a structure on double levers, and the rear is a multi-link configuration (in both cases there are anti-roll bars).
By default, the car is equipped with the Hydractive III + hydropneumatic suspension, which can change the stiffness and ground clearance in the range from 110 to 210 mm.
The steering system of the French sedan is formed by a rack and pinion mechanism and a hydraulic control amplifier. All three-volume wheels are equipped with ventilated brake discs with a diameter of 330 mm on the front and 302 mm on the rear axles with ABS, EBD, Brake Assist and other auxiliary electronics.

Options and prices. In the Russian market, Citroen C6 of the original incarnation was offered in the only one, but the most "sophisticated" Exclusive configuration (in 2016, a car of this model can be purchased only in the secondary market at a price of ~ 1 million ± 500 thousand rubles (the cost strongly depends on the year release, condition and mileage)).
As standard, the car "flaunts" nine airbags, a zone climate control system, bi-xenon headlights, adaptive lighting system, leather interior, heated front and rear seats, a multimedia complex with navigation, a premium audio system and 18-inch wheel disks. The Frenchman also has a wide range of safety technologies - ABS with EBD, BAS, ESP, TCS, front and rear parking sensors, cruise, rain and light sensors and much more.
