The Changan CS35 Plus subcompact SUV, the "second" generation of the CS35, debuted on August 31, 2018 at the Chengdu International Auto Show.
After the "reincarnation", the car radically changed its image, enlarged in size, becoming a full-fledged classmate of Hyundai Creta and Renault Kaptur, "armed" with new engines (but, unfortunately, not for Russia) and received a wide range of modern options ... but if the crossover entered the Celestial Empire on sale a few months after the world premiere, quickly becoming one of the bestsellers, it only reached Russian buyers at the beginning of August 2019.
Externally, Changan CS35 Plus looks pretty, stylish, harmonious and moderately aggressive, and due to its angular outlines, making it a bit like the Volkswagen Tiguan, it is perceived as a real "European".
The front view of the car "flaunts" a very monumental view with a radiator grill lined up with the optics, over which a relief hood hangs, and a massive bumper, and from the rear it catches the eye with graceful two-section lights connected by a scarlet bar, a large trunk lid and a neat bumper ...
In profile, the crossover attracts attention with an expressive, proportional and very dynamic appearance, in which the sloping "floating" roof, "square" wheel arches that accommodate "rollers" up to 18 inches, and rear-view mirrors located on the legs are immediately striking.
With its dimensions, Changan CS35 Plus corresponds to the canons of the subcompact segment: it is 4335 mm long, 1825 mm wide, and 1660 mm high. The wheelbase at the five-door is 2600 mm, and its ground clearance is 180 mm.
The vehicle weighs at least 1350 kg when fully equipped.
In the cabin, the Chinese SUV fully meets modern fashion trends, meeting its inhabitants with a truly European solid design - a stylish three-spoke multi-steering wheel with developed tides in the correct grip area and a rim truncated in the lower part, a laconic "toolbox" with several dial gauges and color " a "window" of the onboard computer between them, an expressive center console flaunting a 10.25-inch touchscreen of the media center, symmetrical ventilation deflectors and an attractive air conditioning unit.
The interior of the Changan CS35 Plus has a five-seater layout, but the second row of seats in terms of free space is more suitable for only two adult passengers. At the front there are well-profiled chairs with distinct lateral support bolsters and wide adjustment intervals, and at the back there is a comfortable sofa with two headrests (additional amenities include their own ventilation deflectors).
The trunk of a subcompact crossover demonstrates the correct shape, but it cannot boast of a record volume - only 403 liters in normal condition. The second row of seats is folded in a pair of asymmetric parts, as a result of which the compartment capacity increases to 950 liters, but a flat area is not obtained.
In the niche under the raised floor there is a spare wheel and the necessary set of tools.
In the Russian market, Changan CS35 Plus is offered with one single gasoline engine - an in-line four-cylinder "aspirated" with a displacement of 1.6 liters with a distributed injection system, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and variable valve timing, which generates 117 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 152 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm.
By default, the engine is combined with a 5-speed "manual" gearbox and drive wheels of the front axle, and as an option it is entitled to a 6-band "automatic" (but you cannot get an all-wheel drive transmission for any money).
It is worth noting that in China, the SUV is supplied with completely different engines, namely: an atmospheric "four" of 1.6 liters, giving out 128 hp. and 161 Nm of peak thrust, and a 1.4-liter turbo engine producing 158 hp. and 260 Nm. The first unit is docked with a 5-speed "mechanics" or 6-range "automatic", and the second - with a 7-speed "robot" with two clutches.
At the heart of the Changan CS35 Plus is a front-wheel drive architecture called EPS with a transverse power plant and a steel monocoque body. On the front axle of the car, an independent suspension with MacPherson struts and an anti-roll bar is used, and on the rear there is a semi-independent system with a torsion beam.
The crossover has a rack and pinion steering with an integrated electric power amplifier. "In a circle" the five-door is equipped with disc brakes (ventilated at the front), supplemented by ABS and EBD.
On the Russian market, Changan CS35 Plus is offered in two equipment options - "Comfort" and "Luxury".
- For a crossover in the basic configuration with "mechanics" you will have to pay a minimum of 969,900 rubles (the cost of other versions has not yet been disclosed), and its functionality includes: two front airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, ABS, ESP, media center from 10.25- inch screen, air conditioning, light sensor, electric drive and heated mirrors, heated front seats, four power windows, an audio system with six speakers and some other equipment.
- The richer version additionally "flaunts": keyless entry and engine start, a rear view camera, 17-inch wheels, an electric driver's seat, one-zone "climate", a sunroof, rear parking sensors, "cruise" and "leather" interior trim.
